Amandari is found 5 mins from the art community of Ubud, in Central Bali.The town of Kedewatan lies opposite to the resort. Designed as a Balinese hamlet, Amandari has river-stone walkways and high paras-stone walls. The open-air lobby was designed after a wantilan, a town meeting place. The path that runs thru Amandari and down the valley to the brook below is holy land. Every 6 months for centuries, Balinese have taken the trail down to a pool of holy water.

Just above this spring-fed pool sit 3 modest shrines and a traditional tiger carved into rock. Each one of the thirty apartments resort is walled in and has its own personal garden. Roof-tops are thatched. Walls are made from the paras volcanic stone found hereabouts and the floors are Javanese marble. The overall design also reflects the influence of the Balinese wantilan, an outside pavilion particularly for relaxation.Interiors make generous use of local woods and rattan to give guests a feeling of the outside. Apartments contain out of doors marble tubs.Eleven have their own pools. Amandari is well suited for a cultural exploration of Bali as it is located in the central hill district of Ubud renowned for its workers, and in the neighborhood of Besakih, Bali's ma temple. It's also within the reach of Sanur, Legian and Kuta, which have the most established shops and restaurants on the island. Ubud offers a plethora of humanities and crafts with Pasar Seni, its colorful market which trades in a large range of clothing, sarongs and present items together with numerous small shops. The close by towns of Tegallang and Jati are noted for their woodcarvings, and the hamlet of Celuk is home to countless jewellers, some of whom will custom-make pieces.
